Best Of 2009
Posted on December 24th, 2009 filed in Movies, Music, TV3 Comments »

It’s time for my yearly roundup on what I’ve been wasting my time with. Here it goes, somewhat in order but not really.
BEST MUSIC
Every Time I Die - New Junk Aesthetic
The best thing since Hot Damn! and sliced bread
Brand New - Daisy
“vices” definitely has some early nineties influence, grunnnnnge.
A Day To Remember - Homesick
…now available with more gang-vocals
Converge - Axe To Fall
The best thing since Jane Doe and sliced bread
Set Your Goals - This Will Be The Death Of Us
I’m all about the Haley Williams cameo
Cave In - Planets Of Old EP
Only a few jams but they own hard
Fireworks - All I Have To Offer Is My Own Confusion
Dude’s voice was annoying at first but I couldn’t stop listening. Reminds me of Take This To Your Grave era Fall Out Boy.
Kevin Devine - Brother’s Blood
last.fm tells me this is my most listened to artist, probably because it only scrobbles when I’m at work and I find Kevin’s voice soothing and conducive to efficient programming?
New Found Glory - Not Without A Fight
Pop punk’s not dead
Title Fight - The Last Thing You Forget
This will have to do since Saves the Day will never record another Can’t Slow Down
As Cities Burn - Hell or High Water
Kind of sounds like trainwreck era Boys Night Out, kind of..

BEST TV
Dexter
It was cool to see Dexter off his game and lose his cool. And whaddup with that ending?!
How I Met Your Mother
I watched every season in the span of a few days, new favorite comedy.
True Blood
This is the only vampire show I watch
The Office
May not be the best season, but I still love this show.
Mad Men
Back when dudes were dudes. I want to drink scotch right now.

BEST MOVIES
Zombieland
The Hangover
D9
500 Days Of Summer
Star Trek

Disney’s UP uses viral you tube clip

One of my fave shopping channel bloopers made it into the movie “UP”. It’s near the beginning of the movie when the old dude is watching TV, you can only hear the end of the clip and can’t see anything but I knew what it was right away. Did anyone else catch this?
Mitsubishi Site Doesn’t Like Firefox?
Posted on May 15th, 2009 filed in General1 Comment »

I was just checking out the Mitsubishi site and came across something very strange. I was greeted with a pop-up telling me that the site can be best viewed in safari. It’s not uncommon for you to come across a message similar to this if you’re running IE6, but I’m using Firefox 3. It isn’t 1998 anymore, I’m surprise they’re not recommending the best resolution for me to use and perhaps Netscape would also be a good option.
Top 5 things BJ Ryan should do instead of playing baseball
Posted on April 22nd, 2009 filed in General3 Comments »
Bj Ryan from what I remember is the highest paid reliever in baseball history. This dude blows more saves than Lindsay Lohan. Here’s the top 5 things he should be doing instead of playing baseball.
- Dig a hole
- Live in the hole
- Become an elephant handler
- Grow a neck (thanks Jake)
- Build a time machine then convince his parents not to “do it”

I was a soccer hooligan for an afternoon

I experienced my first professional soccer game this weekend, and it just happened to be in Columbus, Ohio. Apparently TFC and the Columbus Crew have some sort of rivalry or are trying to start one. The moral of the story is that soccer games/fans can be border-line terrifying, or is that passion? There was a metal railing ripped off the stands and thrown onto the field and a ton of smoke bombs being thrown. Check out the video below for some of the mayhem after TFC scored a goal.
When they honoured Columbus for winning the championship last season all the TFC supporters sat down and read the Toronto Star.

T-O-R-O-N-T-Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh TFC (clap-clap)
